'How to Muzzle Train Your Dog' by MFV

Muzzling your dog can seem intimidating, but with proper training, you can help them become comfortable and cooperative wearing a muzzle. This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to muzzle train your dog successfully.

While proactive muzzle training is ideal for all dogs, certain situations make a muzzle especially necessary for safety and management. These include:

  • Vet exams when your dog is in pain or fearful
  • Emergency transport or care of an injured or scared dog
  • Introductions to new dogs if there are aggression issues
  • Grooming with an unfamiliar groomer
  • Legally required by breed-specific legislation (see American Bully XL dogs)

In these cases, a muzzle-trained dog will experience less stress. The muzzle protects others while helping keep your dog calm.

Cootes Community Grant

We are pleased to announce that we have been able to donate £500 to St Peter & James Hospice and Arundawn Dog Rescue thanks to a community grant.

St Peter & St James Hospice provides expert care to adults living with a life-limiting illness in our community and those close to them.

Arundawn Dog Rescue provides rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming for council pound strays who have served their obligatory 7 days and are facing euthanasia, through no fault of their own.

As part of our fundraising effort, we will be hosting a Charity Dog Show on Saturday 23rd September in partnership with The Woolpack Pub.

Charity Dog Show

Our dog show was a huge success!

We would like to thank our sponsors Bodle Bros and WoozelBears, and The Woolpack Pub for hosting.

We raised over £700 for our chosen charities; Arundawn Dog Rescue and St Peter & St James Hospice.

Huge thank you to all that attended.

See you next year!
